On Friday 9th March at 7.30 pm, St Mary’s, Astley, will be hosting a folk evening in Astley Village Hall to raise funds for the church. The group, “Old Bones”, is a trio of experienced musicians who are fast building a reputation for finely crafted music. They will be joined by Sophie Kerr, a Shrewsbury based singer songwriter who has been featured on BBC Radio Shropshire’s Sunday Folk Show, and her powerful and distinctive voice, influenced by heavyweights of traditional song such as Sandy Denny and Judie Collins, brings a touch of English magic to modern classics as well as a good helping of popular folk favourites and original material. They have all been an active part of the Shropshire folk scene for many years and together they will bring a mix of thoughtful interpretation of songs old and new, and music guaranteed to get your feet tapping.

Tickets cost £10.00 and are available from Nick Hall 01939 210353 or Martin Locke 01939 210639. Please bring your own drinks and nibbles, and there will be a raffle in the interval.”
